History and Growth

Atmaviswas Vidyalaya (AVV) has journeyed through a path of dedication and resilience, evolving into a beacon of hope for mental health rehabilitation and awareness. Here's a glimpse into our milestones:
15 April 2003
The Stepping Stone

The foundation of AVV was laid with a heartfelt Bhumi Pooja, symbolizing our commitment to creating a sanctuary for mental health care and rehabilitation.

18 March 2006
Humble Beginnings

AVV began its operations with one patient, Priti, and grew to accommodate six more patients within its first month. Under the mentorship of Father Hank, we gained essential guidance and skills to establish ourselves as a trusted mental health organization.

2006
Introducing Short-Term Rehabilitation

Initially, AVV focused on short-term rehabilitation, offering patients a safe environment to recover and reintegrate into society.

2008
Expanding Outreach

The outreach program was initiated to make mental health care accessible and spread awareness in the tribal areas near the Valsad district. This program marked our commitment to breaking barriers and bringing care to those in need.

2008
Psychiatric OPD Launch

To support nearby patients suffering from mental health issues, a dedicated Psychiatric OPD was established, enabling us to provide expert consultation and care. Provided free medication to patients.

2010
Empowering Through Vocational Training

To foster independence and skill development, we launched a Vocational Training Centre. The initiative empowered patients by offering hands-on training and even opened a dedicated shop, providing them opportunities to learn and earn.

2014–2015
Conceptualizing and Building Long-Term Care

Recognizing the need for extended care, AVV conceptualized a long-term rehabilitation home in 2014. By 2015, the facility was operational, welcoming its first 10 long-term patients to receive sustained care and support.
